We all know what it’s like to have a smelly Pomeranian or two. While they’re absolutely the cutest little things in the world, once they hit the 2- to the 3-month mark without a bath, their smell starts to become much more noticeable. That’s why using the right shampoo for your Pomeranian can go a long way!
Being able to keep your Pomeranians fresh and clean is pretty easy as long as you give them a bath every 2 or 3 months. This ensures that they’ll have a nice smell and shiny coat, which really improves the health and quality of your Pomeranian’s coat, skin, and general hygiene. This is particularly important for Pomeranians since they’re a double-coat breed.
For these reasons and more, it’s a good idea to invest in some decent shampoo whenever you decide to wash your Pomeranian. Some store-bought brands can be one-size-fits-all, which could be potentially sub-optimal for your Pomeranian’s skin and coat. In my opinion, it’s best to spring for some higher quality shampoos without breaking the budget.
Here’s a quick overview of the best shampoo for Pomeranians, which we’ll review in-depth later in this post:
So, what is the best shampoo for Pomeranians?

The one I suggest is the vanilla and almond shampoo, but they have several others that’ll surely keep your Pomeranian smelling amazing. Some of the many kinds of scents include eucalyptus and peppermint, mango, Mediterranean rosemary, sweet orange, tea tree oil and aloe vera, wild cherry, green tea, and awapuhi. If you and your Pomeranian aren’t fans of natural scents, they also have fragrance-free versions!
On top of all of these amazing qualities Earthbath All Natural Shampoo has to offer, it’s also 100% biodegradable and absolutely 100% cruelty-free. Fieldworks Moosh Natural Dog Shampoo
As you can probably tell at this point, I’m a big fan of all-natural dog shampoos. The reason is that almost all high-quality brands are eco-friendly and cruelty-free. One of those is most surely Fieldworks Moosh Natural Dog Shampoo which should be one of the top dog shampoos you consider using on your Pomeranian.
Among the many natural benefits of Fieldworks Moosh Natural Dog Shampoo, including it being a great antibacterial, antifungal, and antiseptic treatment, it also contains no sulfates, no preservatives, no chemicals, is hypoallergenic, and is super easy to rinse out.
It even contains shea butter, neem and argan oil, aloe vera, vetiver, nutmeg, rosemary, and bentonite so your Pomeranian keeps a silky and shiny coat while reducing the chances of itchy skin and hot spots on their skin.
This shampoo from Fieldworks is, again, one of the best shampoos you can use on your Pomeranian. They’ve been around for quite some time and have proven time and time again that they know how to make high-quality, effective dog products that won’t break the bank.
Honeydew Colloidal Oatmeal Shampoo
As another top candidate for one of the best shampoos for Pomeranians, Honeydew Colloidal Oatmeal Shampoo is easily one of the best out there. Not only is it an all-natural solution for your Pomeranian’s skin and coat, but they’re also 100% made in the USA using state-of-the-art facilities that exceed industry standards. I’ve tried Honeydew Colloidal Oatmeal Shampoo as well as some of their other products and they’ve never disappointed.
This shampoo contains oatmeal and lavender, which forces your Pomeranians coat to stay healthy and smell fantastic. Similar to most other shampoos on this list, it also contains many other natural ingredients that ensure a safe, gentle, and effective bathing experience for any Pomeranian.
One of the best qualities of this shampoo is the all-natural lavender included in the formula. Whenever I’ve used it on my Pomeranians, they tend to calm down more quickly while sitting in the bathtub, which is extremely convenient if you want to reduce spills. On top of all that, it’s also tear-free, paraben-free, and cruelty-free, so you can feel safe that you’re taking care of your Pomeranian and other animals in the pet community.
Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Shampoo
There aren’t many veterinary-grade shampoos out there that I’d suggest, but, if I was to suggest any, Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Shampoo would definitely be my first. If you’re looking for a medicated shampoo that’ll tackle the most unhealthy skin and coats out there, you definitely want to consider this shampoo.
While it is classified as a medicated shampoo, it’s relatively gentle due to some carefully balanced ingredients, including coal tar, salicylic acid, and micronized sulfur, which aim to treat skin scaling caused by seborrhea. If your Pomeranian has parasitic infections, fungus, or bacterial infections, this shampoo is more likely to knock those symptoms out cold.
Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Shampoo is strong enough to ensure a healthy coat and skin, but it’s also gentle enough not to remove any tick or flea treatments you’ve put on your Pomeranian. As you may have figured, it’s also one of the top vet-recommended shampoos on the market. If you have reason to be concerned about the existing health of your Pomeranian’s skin and coat, you’ll want to consider getting this shampoo.
Paw Choice No-Rinse Shampoo
All of the shampoos I’ve suggested so far in this list require you to get your Pomeranian in a bathtub and give them a thorough rinsing. However, if you’re on the go all of the time and need a quick, no-rinse solution, there’s no doubt you’ll want to consider getting Paw Choice No-Rinse Shampoo.
Whether your Pomeranian just took a bath and got dirty again, they’re entering their senior years, or they’ve just got out of surgery, Paw Choice No-Rinse Shampoo is a top-rated shampoo that’ll keep your Pomeranian’s coat shiny and clean. With an amazing mango and pomegranate scent, your Pomeranian is going to smell amazing after using this shampoo.
It’s also mild, safe, and good for sensitive skin and includes no harsh chemicals and zero sodium laureth sulfate. This means it’s effective at removing odors and bacteria from your Pomeranian’s coat and skin without causing itchy skin. If you’re looking for a highly effective, 100% made-in-the-USA no-rinse shampoo, look no further!
Rocco & Roxie Oatmeal Shampoo
After giving Rocco & Roxie Oatmeal Shampoo a shot with my Pomeranians, I can safely say that this shampoo is one of the safest and most effective shampoos on the market. Not only does it result in a good-smelling, shiny coat, but helps rebuild, repair, and replenish damaged hair on your Pomeranian.
The ingredients inside Rocco & Roxie Oatmeal Shampoo are also some of the more unique out there with regards to dog shampoos since it includes Moroccan argan oil, geranium extract, and gentle chamomile. With these powerful combinations of all-natural ingredients, your Pomeranian will not only have a super shiny coat but strengthened and regenerated skin cells and hair follicles.
These guys are all about improving the health and appearance of your Pomeranian’s skin and coat. Their message resonates strongly with me and my family, so it’s easy for me to give the two big thumbs up with confidence.
Pupkiss Pets Shampoo & Conditioner
Making sure your Pomeranian’s shampoo and conditioner is safe, but strong enough to take on even the toughest dirt and grime while producing a soft and detangle coat that can be difficult to find. When it comes to Pupkiss Pets Shampoo & Conditioner, you’re in good hands, especially if your Pomeranian has sensitive skin.
Using Pupkiss Pets Shampoo & Conditioner is a dream come true because it’s one of the only 100% plant-based shampoos and conditioners made entirely in the USA. What this means is you won’t have to worry about any strange chemicals or additives that could cause irritation in your Pomeranian’s skin while ensuring a soft, shiny, and clear coat.
As a matter of fact, it’s by far one of the richest, creamy shampoo experiences your Pomeranian’s coat will experience! It’s super effective at removing all kinds of dirt and grime, which ultimately produces a luxuriously fluffy coat and soft skin. I assure you, you’ll definitely want to give Pupkiss Pets Shampoo & Conditioner a try!
Honeydew Oatmeal Shampoo & Conditioner
I’ve added quite a few oatmeal-based shampoos and conditioners to this list, but Honeydew Oatmeal Shampoo & Conditioner takes a unique twist when compared with the competition. Not only is it 100% made in the USA, but it contains a unique blend of healing moisturizers, including jojoba and provitamin B5, to combat strong skin irritation.
Honeydew Oatmeal Shampoo & Conditioner is formulated with the most effective nourishing ingredients to result in a vet-recommended clinical formula that is sulfate-free as well as paraben-free and tear-free. Not only that, but it’s extremely effective at soothing dry and flaky skin while doubling as a safe and effective deodorizer.

Gerrard Larriett Aromatherapy Shampoo & Conditioner
It’s important to choose a shampoo and conditioner that effectively remove dirt and grime from your Pomeranian’s skin and coat. However, it’s always an added bonus when the all-natural scents produce a calming effect on your Pomeranian. That’s one of the reasons I’m a huge fan of Gerrard Larriett Aromatherapy Shampoo & Conditioner.
Not only is Gerrard Larriett Aromatherapy Shampoo & Conditioner veterinary recommended, but it’s also been showcased in Cesar’s Way Magazine as well as Modern Dog Magazine! After I learned this, I bought a bottle right away to give it a test run on my Pomeranians, and, I have to say, it definitely didn’t disappoint.
The ingredients, such as oatmeal, lavender oil, chamomile oil, aloe vera, and vitamin E, produce an effective formula that keeps your Pomeranian smelling and looking fantastic. Along with these all-natural ingredients, it’s also 100% biodegradable, paraben-free, dye-free, and cruelty-free, so you can feel great about using this shampoo on your Pomeranian. On top of all that, it’s even 100% made in the USA!
A Fun Grooming Experience for Your Pomeranian
I hope this list of different shampoos to use on your Pomeranians helped you out. I know I wasn’t completely sure what to get for my little guys, so I thought it would be of use to put together my favorites in one place!
As a little bonus material, I wanted to tell you a little bit about how I clean and groom my Pomeranians whenever they need to take a bath. One of the most important qualities of a Pomeranian is their coat and skin since they derive a lot of their character from the way their hair looks and are prone to certain skin allergies. Also, it’s just a good idea to make sure they have excellent hygiene.
Do you ever wash your Pomeranian in the bathtub, kitchen sink, or outside the kiddie pool? I’ll be honest, I used to put them in the bathtub all the time, but it always hurt my knees whenever I’d kneel down to wash and rinse them. Plus, a lot of their hair would get stuck in the drain, which meant extra work unclogging the drain. Once I found out about portable bathtubs, I bought one and never looked back! If you’re interested, I got the Booster Bath Elevated Bathtub.
Literally, every single time I give my Pomeranians a bath, they know I’m going to give them a nice blow-drying. However, I realized that my hairdryer wasn’t very good at getting deep into the double-layer coat Pomeranians are known to have. One of the best investments I’ve ever made is getting a dog hair dryer, which has had a huge effect on the quality of my Pomeranians coats! If you’re in the market for a new dog hair dryer, I suggest the Shelandy Dog Hair Dryer.
