The Small Bites formula is for Pomeranians that need or prefer smaller pieces for ease of chewing but it’s formulated for Pomeranians of all ages.
Rice also has a lower likelihood of causing allergic reactions than grains like wheat or corn. Rice is a great source of carbohydrates and is sometimes helpful to Pomeranians who get easy digestive upset even without allergies.

Blue Wilderness High Protein Grain Free Puppy Dry Dog Food (link to read reviews on Amazon) is a very popular and well-known product. I chose this high-protein dry food because it’s excellent for puppies and dogs that need the higher protein that comes in any good Pomeranian food. It supports growth and strength for puppies, breeding Pomeranians, and Pomeranians with health issues.
This Blue product is chicken based and includes an excellent chicken and fish meal to increase the protein without being excessively high in calories. Real meat is the main ingredient and it also has fruit and vegetables that aren’t as likely to trigger allergies.
You’ll also love that it has DHA, the fatty acid found in a Pomeranian mother’s milk. This food is designed to preserve and build a healthy immune system. It has no chicken by-products, is considered grain-free, and has no corn, wheat, or soy. It also has no artificial flavors or preservatives.
Purina Beneful IncrediBites

Purina has worked hard to increase its product range for Pomeranians with allergies and yet Purina also tries to provide its specialty foods at reasonable prices. The Purina Beneful IncrediBites for Small Dogs made my list due to the improvements the company has made and the small bites for Pomeranians plus a good ingredient list.
The first ingredient is real farm-raised chicken. It also contains real carrots, sweet potatoes, and spinach. This product is sometimes very appealing to fussy Pomeranians who prefer variety and also need to avoid Pomeranian food allergies.
Hill’s Science Diet Sensitive Stomach and Skin Dog Food

They also made my top ten list with this small and toy breed natural dog food that’s specially formulated for little dogs like Pomeranians.
I like the chicken meal and barley flavor for Pomeranians and other small dogs. Dog nutritionists have spoken highly of beets for dogs that have trouble with firm stools and this product includes beet pulp as a prebiotic fiber. It has no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives that might irritate your Pomeranian’s skin, or cause stomach upset.
It has omega-6 fatty acids and vitamin E for great coats as well as antioxidants like C and E for the immune system. Hill’s Science Diet Adult Sensitive Stomach & Skin Small & Toy Breed natural dog food is formulated for smaller adult dogs with food or skin sensitivities and Pomeranian food allergies.

Taste of the Wild High Protein Grain-Free Dog Food is high on my list of the best dog food for Pomeranians since it has a formula that works for Pomeranians that are sensitive to even more common quality dog food ingredients. The one that hit high for me was the Appalachian Valley Small Breed Venison formula.
If you have one of the rare Pomeranians that can’t tolerate chicken, this may be the food for you. Many Pomeranians can eat this food with zero problems even if they’ve had trouble with other known anti-allergy foods. This particular product is also a small kibble size which is great for Pomeranians.
This food is special! It uses real venison as the first ingredient and uses duck and fish for added protein while avoiding beef, chicken, and other common meats. Note that it does contain a small amount of lamb. Venison is known to be a low-fat and high-protein meat that wild dogs and other feral canine hunt and eat.
This food has just about everything your Pomeranian could need. It includes superfoods for optimum health, it’s highly digestible, and it has probiotics that thrive in the gastrointestinal tract.

A second Blue Buffalo product made my top ten list for being the best dog food for Pomeranians because Blue is so great about putting out multiple flavors and types of food in a small enough kibble for Pomeranians.
Blue Buffalo Life Protection Dry Dog Food is similar to the other Blue dog food on my list except that this one has higher protein, carbohydrates, and other enhanced nutrients for Pomeranians with known health issues, breeding Pomeranians, or Pomeranians with immune system issues. You can feed this to any Pomeranian since it’s not a medical product, but it is an excellent choice for a dog with medical problems.
The basic ingredients are chicken and brown rice. It includes whole grains, garden veggies, and fruit so it’s good for Pomeranians that need extra calories and extra nutrients, but aren’t sensitive to rice or similar grains. Some Pomeranians love the patented Lifesource bits in this food and those contain some of the extra antioxidants vitamins and minerals selected by veterinarians.
This food has no poultry by-products, no corn, wheat, or soy, and no artificial flavors or preservatives. If you try the other Blue food and it’s not enough for your Pomeranian, try this one. If your Pomeranian doesn’t enjoy the Life Source bits (Pomeranian owners say you can tell if they are left in the bowl!) and your Pomeranian isn’t in need of the added products, try the other Blue food or one of my other picks.
